Strike looms at YABATECH as SSANIP offers Rector ultimatum

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics, SSANIP, Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), chapter, has given the Rector, Mr. Obafemi Omokungbe, an engineer, two weeks to redress the shriek of affairs, where teaching employees appreciate taken over some positions supposed for non-teaching employees as required by legislation.

The employees, who held a congress on campus closing Thursday, listed the positions for which their members had been denied to encompass the Director, CITM, the Director, Works and Services, the Director, Physical Planning Unit, the Director, Consult and the Head of Fire Services.

In a communique on the stay of their meeting which used to be signed by the Chairman, Mr. Kayode Adekunle Samuel and the Secretary, Mr. Odundayo Kolawole, they said a call of Federal Polytechnics had complied with the subsisting solutions and guidelines on filling such positions.

The employees listed Federal Polytechnics that complied with the extant solutions in filling such positions to encompass these in Ado-Ekiti, Bauchi, Offa, Mubi, Bida among others.

They puzzled why YABATECH would be exempted.
